How Does a Yoga Session Unfold ?

1 - Reading a Passage from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

We begin with a reading from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali before the session. This reading helps prepare both the mind and body for a more mindful and peaceful practice. These texts offer deep reflection that centers, inspires, and connects you to the very essence of yoga. This introduction creates a mindset conducive to inner listening, enhancing the benefits of each session.

2. Chanting the 3 OM’s : Inner Vibration and Grounding

The session begins with the chanting of three OM's while seated. It’s not about how you chant, but about the vibration that spreads through your body and initiates inner work.

Why chant OM?

  • It calms the mind.
  • It initiates the process of inner transformation.
  • It harmonizes the body and mind before the postures.

3. Asanas: Poses and Sun Salutations

  1. Once the OM’s are chanted, we stand to begin the Asanas (yoga poses). The first series is often Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), which warms up the body and opens the joints.

Why start with Surya Namaskar?

  • It warms up the body.
  • It prepares muscles and joints for movement.
  • It’s ideal for starting gently.

Afterward, depending on the session and the group’s needs, we move through various Asanas. Some poses are repetitive, but this has a specific purpose:

The repetition of Asanas:

  • Promotes learning the postures.
  • Helps progress in mastering movements.
  • Allows you to continue practicing at home.

The goal of the poses is to turn inward, leaving the mind aside. Through the Asanas, each practitioner explores their current limits, with kindness and without judgment. You learn to observe your body and respect its needs.

4 - Pranayama – Breathing and Activation of Vital Energy

Pranayama is one of the fundamental aspects of yoga. These breathing exercises activate Prana (vital energy) within the body.

Why practice Pranayama?

  • It calms emotions.
  • It regulates the mind.
  • It strengthens physical and mental energy.

We start with simple diaphragmatic breathing exercises, progressing according to each individual’s capacity. With each breath, you’ll feel profound relaxation and inner peace that will stay with you throughout the session.

Benefits of Pranayama:

  • Grounding and deep calm.
  • Emotional tension release.
  • Balance between physical and mental energy.

5 - Concentration and Meditation – Learning to Tame Your Thoughts

After Pranayama, we move into a period of concentration. The goal is to observe your thoughts without judgment, while focusing on your breath. This simple yet powerful exercise helps you:

  • Re-center in the present moment.
  • Calm the mental flow.
  • Cultivate mindfulness.

This progressive concentration training is essential for taming restless thoughts and better managing emotions in daily life.

6.Savasana: Relaxation and Integration of the Benefits

The session concludes with Savasana, the posture of deep relaxation. Lying on your back, you allow your body to fully relax. This moment is crucial to integrate all the benefits of the session and release accumulated tensions.

Why practice Savasana?

  • It allows the body to regenerate.
  • It helps release inner blockages.
  • It offers profound mental and physical relaxation.
